Okay, so I don’t want to make this a huge long post, but it might turn into one. We’ve kinda been dealing with this for the past two weeks or so and didn’t really want to announce anything until after our show in Long Beach, just cause we wanted that to be the focus. Dustin has decided he no longer wants to be in Every Atlas… or I guess, to make the statement as true as possible, quit after we had an argument and then later on said he didn’t mean it, but we said no. So now it’s just Manuel, Chris and myself (Alex).
I don’t want to talk about it too much. Band drama is stupid and ours is no different. I started this band in 2008 (2007?) and it was just gonna be my outlet for the music I made, until I met Dustin. I let him be a part of it because he was one of the most talented people I have ever met (he still is). We each wrote and sang the songs. We didn’t always get along, but we made it work. In the end it just became too stressful.
So now we’re going separate ways. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll go over and like Dustin’s band Of Us Giants. They were already amazing, just because of his talent, but now that they’ll have 100% of his focus they’re gonna be even better.
Sadly, all of this means the record we’ve been working on for the past two years is getting scrapped. It feels like even longer than two years. And it was gonna be the best thing we’ve ever done. You can hear Dustin’s growth since Burn Down in the OUG songs and hopefully you’ll hear my growth in the new EA songs (this summer hopefully).
And though I know our fans are gonna be disappointed, I feel like the album never coming out is the equivalent of the world’s smallest violin playing just for me. Such is life. On to the next one. We’ve got a couple songs we’re gonna put on a 7” this summer and we’re really excited about the future.
And in the spirit of all of this change, we’re also parting ways with our long time label Quote Your Pulse Records. We’ve been so lucky for all the help, support and opportunity Jon Jennings has given us over the years, and while we may not be releasing music through him anymore, this is by no means the last time we’ll be working together. He’s putting out a cassette release of one of our older albums (it was mentioned possibly both our older albums!) for Record Store Day on 4/20. It’s gonna be tight.
I knew this shit was gonna get too long! If you read all of that, thank you. If you’ve ever listened to our band, come to a show, bought an album or song, liked our page, thank you. I understand there may be some people who won’t support us after this and that’s okay. If you do continue to support us, then you are a saint in my eyes and I’m forever indebted to you.
Peace, Love and Light
